BIG SKY JOURNAL is published 6 times per year—February, April, June, August, October and December. February is a special Fly Fishing book, April (Spring Issue) is focused on ranch and the cowboy lifestyle, August is the ARTS Issue, October (Fall)  is HUNTING and December (Winter) features fiction stories along with winter sports. All of our features, columns, poetry, fiction, and photography focus on the Northern Rocky Mountain landscape, culture, people, places and wildlife.

COVER IMAGES should be bright, sharply focused, heavily saturated colors. An open interpretation of strong seasonal looks‹ wildlife, scenic panoramas of our region (Montana, Wyoming, Idaho). The August, ARTS cover is always an image of one of the featured artists. PHOTOGRAPHIC ESSAYS should be dynamic, evocative, original portrayals of life in the Northern Rockies—backcountry adventure, fine dining, architecture, ranching rodeo, fly fishing and hunting.PHOTO CALLS are emailed 2 weeks prior to the next issue. Aside from the cover, these will be specific requests for images to illustrate the stories of that particular issue.

PHOTO/IMAGE SUBMISSION
Digital, color transparencies, 35mm slides or reflective art is accepted.
Please make sure all images are well identified.

DIGITAL ART
Lo res jpg images may be sent for consideration. All cd/dvds must include a contact sheet(s) of the images. Final high res image submissions must be fully edited Photoshop eps, tif or jpgs. A minimum of 300 dpi is required. All images will be converted to CMYK. CMYK image(s) are preferred (as final files) and should be large enough to scale up and retain resolution. Please do not email a file over 3 megs—send a cd or dvd via snail mail.

PHOTOGRAPHIC USAGE RATE
BSJ pays for the quantity and size of images used. Payments will be processed after the issue goes to press.

Editor's page: $ 75
1/4 page: $ 70
1/6 page: $ 50
