Art of another kind

Posted By Jennifer on Jun 3, 2011
I was a young child who attended Camp Perkins. They may not remember me but I remembered them all well. Robert Moore painted for me a lakes scene on a rock. I was mesmerized at the fact that he was so giving of his talent. My rock was one of many but maybe one of very few that is still treasured 20 years later. I also remember Dave and the Meyer family. Dave took me to Mexico with Sony on my first mission trip with YWAM. Dave this question is for you. On that trip I heard a song that I never forgot, but I have never located it. I think the title was, "why don't we build us a house" it was suggested at the most recent work weekend 2011 that Dave, Sony, or even Chard may have been the author of the song. If you ever see this comment I would love for you to send me an email. Thank you for showing me a small piece of the love of Christ. May you all be blessed abundantly.

Amazing

I am definitely going to take in the Dana Galleries room at the CM Russell Art Auction and look for Robert Moore's work at The Russell the auction to benefit the CM Russell museum. I met Robert Moore more than 20 years ago when he was a counselor at Camp Perkins and I was a kitchen volunteer. He painted scenes on stones from the lake shore. I remember seeing Caleb Meyer around the Camp as a little boy, too, lol.

Inspirational

Ever since I first saw Robert Moore's work, I have been mesmerized. I get goosebumps. I have since seen the work of David Mensing and Caleb Meyer and am similarly moved. When I visit the Dana Gallery during Art Week in Great Falls, I fear I might make a pest of myself because I spend so much time there every day just sitting and staring and soaking it up. I am very shy, but these are very down-to-earth people whose personalities and actions are every bit as moving as the art they create. It is all of a piece. I can't wait till the middle of March.
